We left the 'pink city' and its elaborate buildings that lined the bustling streets & the old town and boarded our luxury coach. Not as luxurious as the previous luxury coach and a bit of a heap by British standards. The promised 9-hour journey took 10 hours, the bus stopped to pick up passengers about four times, there was no food stop and we arrived in Udaipur in the dark.
We got out Wheeler's map and headed towards Lake Palace Road. The scale was hopelessly wrong and we didn't find the guest house we were looking for but the room was ok and we just wanted to relax. The owner made us fried chicken, rice and kedgeree (I don't know how to spell it but it was good) and then we crashed out.
