General Election Day. Another lazy day, swimming, sun-bathing and gawping but this time on Karon beach. Idyllic. The number of old European-looking men cavorting around with young Thai girls is amazingly high. Escorts, prostitutes or wives-to-be? I wonder.
The French Navy are in town (Le ship Jeanne D'Arc) in their Mothercare sailor suits with a little anchor on the chest pocket, riding mopeds and motorbikes round the island, trying to pull the Thai girls. They seem to be getting the more plump ones - obviously they haven't got as much money as the portly, balding older men.
