27th August 1991 Day 38

The Diary
Didn't bother getting up for the morning session - thanks to the previous night - but instead walked to the Emperor's Palace. This time the Eastern Gardens were open. Nothing could stop us now, the thrill of a lifetime. Except they were crap. Nothing like we'd imagined - no pagodas, colourful flowers, fountains, bridges, water features etc. but instead there were a few grassed areas (keep off the grass) and some castle walls. They really need to sort out their parks.
Katrin Krabbe - prettier than Sally Gunnell, fact.

Back to the stadium and as usual Akabusi did us proud. Krabbe was worth watching even if she'd walked, Michael Johnson did walk it, and, god why do we have to suffer them , the French won the 400m for women. Konchellah came from nowhere to win the 800m in the same way he knocked McKean out. An early night in anticipation of tomorrow's trip to Mt Fuji.
