29th August 1991 Day 40

The Diary
It pissed down in the morning so we gave the stadium a miss and headed to Harajuku to get a T-shirt each. Unfortunately the shop said they were just for officials so we headed back to the stadium. The session was quite triumphant by British standards so far. Two silver medals and a bronze. I thought sally Gunnell was going to catch up and get first place. She wouldn't get into the German team though. Too ugly. And Roger Black was good for an Emlyn coming off the final bend. Shame he couldn't quite hang on. Bubka did though. What a man, reminds me of Steve Plint in a way.

On the way home we passed Rodion Gataullin in the back of a bus. He was not happy, punching and kicking the seats and obviously turning the air blue in Russian. It's only a game Roddy.
Not another one.....
Quick pizza, one beer, early night.

back to Steve Plint - he was a 4.20m pole vaulter. Famous for his plant. Where is he now ?
